Port of Sami is located on the east coast of Kefalonia on the south of the large bay of Sami.
Yachts are moored at their own anchors with their sterns to waterfronts and breakwaters. It is possible to moor alongside when there is enough free space. Depths near the waterfront and the breakwaters are 2.5-5 meters. The bottom is silt. Despite the good protection of the harbor by the breakwaters, the harbor can be uncomfortable in the strong north-westerly winds that prevail in summer.
A large concrete slab protrudes at the north end of the west breakwater. It is dangerous to approach the stern.
There are many bars, restaurants, supermarket, bakery, butcher's shop, market within walking distance. The ferries to Patras pass near the north breakwater in the evening and stay there all night making noise from the generators. Fuel on your request is delivered by a small fuel-servicing truck.
The price of mooring is about 15 euros per day.
In general, it is a good mooring place to visit the island and, in particular, the Messilani cave with the underground lake.
