The town and port of Poros is located on the east coast of Kefalonia, six miles from the southern tip of the island.
The port of Poros is primarily a ferry and commercial port, but there is a dedicated berth for yachts at the southern end of the harbor, where about 15 to 20 yachts can moor using their anchors. Depths of 2.5 to 4.0 meters. Shelter in the harbor is good, but the prevailing northwest winds bring uncomfortable reflected waves into the harbor.
South-east Waterfront
You can moor your yacht on the south-east side of the harbor. The section of the waterfront dedicated to mooring yachts is marked with yellow paint along its edge. Depths range from 4.0 meters at the north end of the waterfront to 2.25 meters at the south end. Holding is good in soft mud, but it may take two or three tries to fixed anchor.
Breakwater
It is possible with caution to moor the yacht on the far half of the breakwater from the shore. The inner half has rocks and you have moor the boat quite far from the pier and go ashore on the dinghies. The waterfront here is very high and there are only a few mooring brackets along the sides and top. The best position is near the steps, where it is easier to get on and off the boat.
There are two water refueling points at the north end of the pier. A tanker truck can be ordered to refuel the boat.
There are several taverns, bars and minimarkets on the shore.
