Langkawi East Village (Oriental Village) is a specially equipped tourist attraction village. But don't be fooled by the name and assume that the village is for those who want to experience the life and lifestyle of the inhabitants of a typical Malay village. In fact, it does not look like a village.
The main commercial idea of its creators is to gather in one place a large number of tourists and a large number of duty-free and souvenir stores to make the trade more profitable. More than 30 duty-free stores are here. Apart from the stores, entertainment, cafes and restaurants were added. A beautiful ambiance was created here. Over time, this attraction grew into an entire mini-city.
Here you can find artists painting portraits, traditional music, folk performances, and theatrical performances on the street. Here you can simply buy fast food and wander from shop to shop, watch fish in the pond, swim in the mini-pool, go on a Duck Tour, visit a 3D museum, take a segway ride, ride elephants, and much more.
Overall, even though the village is commercial, it's well worth a visit, especially as the Langkawi cable car station is located here.
The cafes and entertainment in the East Village start at 8am and finish at 6pm.
