Langkawi Archipelago (Malay, Langkawi Permata Kedah) is located in the Straits of Malacca in north-western Malaysia near the border with Thailand (4 miles south of Tarutau Island). The archipelago consists of four inhabited islands and about a hundred small islets. The islands are 10 miles west of the mainland coast. The climate is equatorial, humid, without a dry season. Winds are weak, there are almost no storms.
The coastlines of the large islands are rather indented, but very little enclosed bays, and most of them shallow. There are a few marinas in the archipelago: the Royal Yacht Club marina on Langkawi Island, Telaga Harbour and Rebak marina on the small island of Rebak off the south-west coast of Langkawi. There are quite a lot of sites suitable for anchoring yachts.
Most of the historical and cultural attractions are located on Langkawi Island.
The Langkawi International Regatta, organized by the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club, is very popular.
On Langkawi you can rent bareboat yacht for sail around the islands of the archipelago and with a visit to the Thai islands. One way Langkawi - Phuket is also possible, but it is better to rent a yacht for such a trip in advance.
Единственным местом аренды яхт без экипажа в Малайзии является Марина Королевского Яхт Клуба на острове Лангкави
