Yacht anchorages near the Black Island

Black Island (Karaada) is located in the western part of Gokova Bay a little over two miles to south of Bodrum. The island stretches from northwest to southeast.

Yachts visit to Black Island mainly during the day to visit the hot springs and muds.

There are three main anchorage areas.

1 - Anchorage of yachts almost in the middle of the northeast shore. There is a concrete pier here to which commercial boats that transport tourists to the hot springs. The pier is almost always busy. Yachts usually anchorage to the northwest and southeast of the pier at depths of 10-15 meters. Crews get to the hot springs by dingy Yachts can anchorage here only in calm weather.

2 - yacht anchorage in the Akvarius bay in the south-east of the island, shelters yachts from the prevailing north-west winds but it is open to the winds of the south directions.

3 - Anchorage in Poiraz Bay in the southeast of the island shelters yachts from the prevailing northwest winds but like Aquarius Bay it is open to southerly winds.
