Phanak Island (Koh Phanak) is located on the northwest corner of Phang Nga Bay 10 miles east of Yacht Haven Marina.
Phanak Island has three possible anchorages: two anchorages on the west coast of the island and one on the east. The choice of one or the other anchorage is determined by the wind direction.
1 - The Northwest Bay has good yacht anchorage at 5 meters. Overnight stays are recommended from November to March, when the northeast monsoon blows. Yachts can also pick up one of several mooring buoys. An additional attraction of this anchorage is the availability of numerous hongs which you can visited at low tide on a dinghy.
2 - Southwest anchorage at about 4 meters depth. The anchor holds well in the mud and seaweed. This is an ideal secluded overnight yacht anchorage during the northeast monsoon. The island shore opposite this anchorage is flanked by overhanging cliffs with many grottoes that can be accessed by a dinghy.
3 - East anchorage is recommended as overnight anchorage during the southwest monsoon from May to October. Anchor in mud and seaweed holds well. It is recommended to approach the mooring by boat from the east and to anchorage at a depth of about four meters. On the shore of the island there are many small coves where you can have a picnic going to the coast by dinghy.
