Islands Chong Lat (Ko Chong Lat) and Khlui (Ko Khlui) are located in the northeastern part of Pang Nga Bay. Thay separated from the mainland by the narrow Koh Khlui Strait. Four miles to the south is Koh Yao Noi.
The entrance to the channel from the north of Chong Lat Island is deep enough and accessible to all yachts. All the channel between the mainland and the islands of Koh Chong Lat and Koh Khlui is accessible to yachts. When sailing on the main channel, it is better to stay close to the islands for fear of a big shoal south of the mainland.
1 - the anchorage between the northern part of Ko Chong Lat and the mainland, is well protected from winds and waves from all directions. It is located between two small islands at a depth of about 5 meters. The current speed here can reach 3 knots, so be careful when swimming from the boat. The anchorage offers a beautiful view of the cliffs of Ko Chong Lat on the west. Locals claim that there are no crocodiles in the area.
2 - Anchorage in the channel between the islands at a depth of 4-5 meters is good for overnight stays during the northeast monsoon season. The large picturesque coves near the anchorage on both islands are easily accessible by dinghy.
3 - Anchorage east of Koh Khlui is well protected from the southwest monsoon. The best anchorage is south of the entrance to a small cove at about 5 meters depth. From here, you can go into the bay by dinghy and explore the cliffs a little to the north.
According to the Thai Water Pilot the strait between Ko Chong Lat and Ko Khlui is accessible to yachts (see diagram below), although most charts indicate less than two meters depth between the islands. It is possible that the Thai Water Pilot refers means to possibility of passage at high tide.
