Ban Thap Lamu

The bay Ban Tap Lamu is located 52 miles north of the southern tip of Phuket and 34 miles east of the Similan Archipelago in the estuary of the Tap Lamu River. Ban Tap Lamu is a Thai naval base with several piers which are prohibited to be approached by yachts. Just south of the Naval Base is a small fishing village. The bay provides good shelter for yachts all year, but it is visited mainly during the northeast monsoon season from November to April when the Similan and Surin National Parks on the islands of the same name are open to visitors.
