The coast and islands of the Ranong province

The coast of Ranong is in Ranong province the most sparsely populated province of Thailand. The main and only city of Ranong province is located at the estuary of the Kra Buri River. Ranong is an important port of Thailand in the Indian Ocean. 24 km south of Ranong is the local airport which receives regular flights from Bangkok. The province of Ranong is not the most touristy place in Thailand. Yachts enter Ranong mainly on their way from Thailand to Burma or back. Travelers on rented yachts rarely get here, although it is possible to visit Ranong if you rent a yacht in Phuket for two or three weeks.
