Ko Miang is located about three miles south of Similan Island.
Yachts can be anchored or pick up mooring buoys near the island in two places - in the open bay in the north of the island and in the strait between the eastern coast of the island and the small islets.
North anchorage off Miang Island. Anchor is given from the yacht at a depth about 12 meters on the sandy bottom where the depth starts to increase. The anchorage is fully exposed to the north-east monsoon so overnight anchorage from November to April is not recommended. On the shore is a beautiful sandy beach. The fringe of coral gardens stretches 200 meters from the beach. On the shore under the shade of trees is headquarters of Similan National Park, a few bungalows and a small restaurant.
The east anchorage of Miang Island sheltered the yacht from both the northeast and southwest winds as it is located in the strait between Miang Island and the two small islands to the east. Although the current in the strait is quite strong the anchor on the sandy bottom at 10-15 meters holds well. Near the small islands is wonderful snorkeling. You can walk along the shore to the National Park headquarters in the north of the island.
