Gokova is a large gulf to the east of Bodrum. The bay is bounded from the north, west and east by the mainland, and from the south by the Dacha peninsula. The length of the gulf from west to east is about 50 miles. The width of the gulf in the western and central parts is about 10 miles. To the east it gradually narrows. The coast is most indented in the eastern part of the gulf. There are many quiet bays suitable for yacht anchorages here. The northern and southern coasts of the bay are smoother but there are several yacht marinas and fishports.
