The village and port of Kioni are located on the north-east coast of Ithaki Island.
In Kioni, yachts can be moored to the pier in several places.
North Waterfront
The main waterfront, where yachts can be moored, runs along the northern side of the harbor. It can accommodate 20 to 25 yachts. Yachts are moored on their own anchors stern or bow to the pier at depths of 2.0 - 2.25 meters along its entire length of waterfront. Kill of the yacht will be 4.0 - 5.0 meters of deep.
The anchor in the mud and seaweed does not hold very well, so it may take several attempts to make sure that anchor is fixed. Shelter for yachts on the waterfront is good from the prevailing north-west winds, but the waterfront is not protected from strong south-east winds. The inside of this waterfront is shallow and occupied by fishing boats.
Breakwater
If you arrive after 16:00, a couple of boats can be moored on the inner side of the breakwater, where the depths range from 2.25 m at the shore to 6.0 m at the outer end. The shelter for yachts is good for all winds except strong south-east winds.
Western Waterfront
There is an option for 6 to 8 shallow draft yachts to moor stern or bow to the shallow water embankment on the west side of the harbor. Often this is the only choice for yachts that arrive late.
The depths are too shallow to come ashore (less than a meter), so yachts must to drop anchor at 6.0 - 7.0 meters and take long mooring lines ashore.
The village is very attractive, located in a wooded cleft at the foot of a deep valley with ruined mills. Shelter in the harbor is good in the prevailing winds.
