Agios Ioanis bay is located on the east side of Kithnos Island, 4.0 miles north-east of the southern tip of the island.
Yachts are anchored along the shores of the bay at depths of 3-20 meters. The bottom is sand and seaweed. Holding is good. It is possible to take lines to the north shore. The bay shelters yachts well from Meltemi. Strong gusts of wind from the valley are possible.
You can also be anchored in the nearby St. Stephen's Bay (immediately west of St. Yannis Bay), but there is more seaweed on the bottom and the anchor holds worse.
There is a village on the shore of St. Stephen's Bay. There is a tavern in the village. In the bay of St. Stephen at a depth of 6 meters there is a shipwreck from World War II.
