Andros is the northernmost island of the Cycladic archipelago. The nearest islands are Tinos, Syros, Kea and Evia. The main ferry port of the island, is Gavrio, located on the north-west coast of the island. It is about 60 miles to Athens and 35 miles to Lavrio.
Andros is a mountainous island with many small rivers and streams, so it has a lot of greenery. The island has a fairly well-developed network of roads and tourist infrastructure, with not so many tourists as in the popularized Mykonos or Paros, although the history and attractions of the island worthy of the most careful study.
There are several spots on Andros where yachts can be moored to the pier. These are Gavrio, Batsi and Castro. There are also anchorages scattered all along the coast of the island, but not all of them can be sheltered for yachts, especially when Meltemi blows. The most sheltered is the main port of the island, Gavrio.
