Kastro Bay and town are located on the north-east coast of Andros island, 11 miles north of the southern tip of the island.
In Kastro Harbor, yachts most often to moor stern or bow to the inside of the east breakwater with their own anchor or using one of the available mooring lines. The bottom of the harbor is rock and seaweed, so the anchor holds poorly and it is advisable to take a mooring line. The inner (north) side of the harbor and the north-west waterfront are occupied by small fishing boats. The south side of the pier delineating the inner part of the harbor is also available for mooring yachts.
Kastro Bay is open to the north-east and during Meltemi a wave forms in it. The wave comes in the harbor, making mooring here not always comfortable.
The city is a 30-minute walk away and interesting to visit.
