Sifnos is one of the southern islands of the Cyclades. The nearest large islands are Serifos 7 miles to the northwest, Paros 17 miles to the east and Milos 12 miles to the south-west. The west coast of the island is barren, while the east is greener and more cultivated. The island is well known for its Cycladic architecture, ceramics and cuisine.
The main ferry port of Sifnos, Kamares, is located on the west coast 3.5 miles from the northern tip of the island.
The coastline of Serifos island is quite indented with many bays suitable for anchorage of yachts. The bays of Vathi, Platis Yialos, Fikiadha are good shelters for yachts when Meltemi blows.
Sifnos is often visited by yachts rented in Athens and Lavrio for a week-long trip to the Cyclades.
