Faros Bay (Ormos Faros) is located on the south-east coast of the island about a mile from the eastern tip.
There are two main anchorages for yachts in Faros Bay.
The first one is located in the northern part of Faros Bay near the village of Faros. Here yachts are anchored all around the bay at depths of 5-15 meters. The bottom is sand, seaweed, stones. You have to look for a site where the anchor will hold well. Good shelter from Meltemi, but there are strong gusts.
On the coast there is a village with taverns and a small store. You can walk to the church at Cape Stavros and to the monastery of Panagia Chrissopigi.
The second anchorage is located in the west of Faros Bay near the monastery of Panagia Chrysopigi. Yachts are anchored all around the bay at a depth of 5-10 meters. The bottom is sand and seaweed. Holding is good. Shelter from Meltemi is worse than in the north of the bay.
