Sikinos is a small island in the southern part of the Cyclades archipelago. The nearest islands are Ios, 3 miles to the east, and Folegandros, 5 miles to the south-west. Sikinos is known as Oenoe or Oinoe, the island of wine in ancient Greece.
The island stretches from south-west to north-east. The island's ferry port of Alopronia is located in the middle of the south-east coast of the island. The coastline is fairly smooth. There are few places suitable for anchoring yachts. In the port of Alopronia, yachts with shallow drafts can be moored to the pier. In addition to Alopronia, there is another village on Sikinos, located in the mountains.
The main attraction of Sikinos is the ancient site of Episkopi, which was originally a Roman mausoleum and was later transformed into a Byzantine monastery.
