Iraklia Island

Iraklia is the westernmost of the group of small islands of the Lesser Cyclades (Myrsini, Donoussa, Iraklia, Keros, Koufonissi and Shinoussa). Iraklia is three miles south of the largest island of the Cyclades, Naxos, and six miles north-east of Ios. The closest island of the Lesser Cyclades to Iraklia, Shinoussa, is separated from Iraklia by a mile and half wide strait.

Iraklia has only two settlements: the port of Agios Georgios in the north-east of the island and the village of Panagia in the center of the island. The coastline is quite rugged, but there are few places suitable for anchoring yachts. Yachts can be moored at the pier only at the port of St. George.

The island is not as heavily covered by mass tourism as neighboring Naxos and Ios, and yachts visit it not so often.

The main attractions of the island are of a natural type.
