St. George's Harbor is a fairly safe little harbor, sheltered from Meltemi and from southerly winds, but it is open to the north-east. The main problem is that the harbor is very small.

Avoid using the outside of the pier to which the ferry is moored, as ferries may arrive in the middle of the night. If, however, there is nowhere else to anchored, check the ferry's expected arrival time. Several yachts can be moored at the pier and 2-3 at the anchorage at the depth of 3-5m. The bottom is sand with some stones. Holding is good. Note the underwater cable running along the bottom of the bay. While anchored, make sure that the boat does not swing in the maneuvering radius of the ferries. If the wind is gusty, either take the long stern mooring line to the north-west shore or set a second anchor to minimize boat movement.

In the village on the coast several tavernas and a small supermarket. In the head of the bay is a sandy beach.

Until a few years ago, there was no Coast Guard presence here. But now there is one, very boring, officer stationed here. He's very interested in collecting harbor dues from yachts that visit the harbor not very often.
