Schinousa Island

Schinousa is a small island a mile and a half north-east of Iraklia. The island's ferry port, Mersin, is located in a same name bay on the south-west coast of the island.

The most attractive and most visited part of the island by yachts is its south-western coast. In addition to Mersin, where yachts can be anchored to the pier, there are several attractive anchorages on the south-west coast. All of them provide good shelter from Meltemi, but do not protect from the south winds. The small island of Agrilos, an extension of Schinous to the south, is separated from it by a narrow, shallow strait, impassable to yachts.

The main part of the population lives in the village of Chora (Panagia), located one kilometer east of the port. The attractions of the island are mainly of a natural character.
