Syros island is located in the heart of the Cyclades, at about the same distance from Paros, Tinos, Andros and Mykonos. The island stretches nine miles from north to south, its greatest width (from west to east) at the southern part is just under six miles. The island has three big settlements: the capital of the island, Ermoupolis, as well as Ano Meria and Poseidonia.
The coastline of Syros is indented with many large and small bays and two large gulfs, near the towns of Ermoupolis in the east and Finikas in the west. There are many suitable moorings places for yachts along its length, both at the pier and at anchor.
Syros is a very touristy island because of its rich history and many well-preserved monuments. At the same time, Syros attracts yachtsmen with many sheltered mooring places for yachts.
