Ermoupolis, the capital of Syros island, is located on the east coast of Syros island in a large natural bay.
Yachts are most often moored at the waterfront in the northernmost part of the bay (1). Mooring yachts on their own anchor with stern or bow to the quay. Anchor at 7-10 meters depth. Bottom is muddy. Holding is good.
On the waterfront there are columns with water and electricity. Payment by card, which can be obtained from the harbor master. The main inconvenience - ferries often approach nearby, creating a nasty wave.
An alternative to mooring at the waterfront is mooring at the unfinished Lazareta marina (2) in the south of the bay.
There are no services in the marina, not even water and electricity. Mooring, of course, is free of charge. The marina shelters yachts well from southerly winds. The town is located about 40 minutes away by foot, but can be reached it by taxe or bus. There are several taverns and a couple of supermarkets near the marina.
