Naxos is the largest and greenest of the Cyclades islands. The nearest to Naxos large islands are Mykonos 15 miles to the north, Paros 3 miles to the west and Ios 10 miles to the south. In addition, two miles south of the southern tip of Naxos is a group of islands called the Little Cyclades (Heraklia, Schinoussa, Koufonissia and Keros), which are considerable interest for yachting.
The island of Naxos has two ports, Naxos and Kalantos, as well as the Naxos Yacht Marina, where you can keep your yacht, while exploring the island. Although Naxos is very popular, it remains largely untouched.
Naxos is a beautiful fertile island with 17,000 inhabitants, many of whom are Catholic. The highest point of the island is Mt. Zas at 1004 m. It is the highest in the Cyclades. The island has many nice villages and inland valleys with slopes and terraces with olive trees, citrus fruits and vineyards. On the west coast of Naxos there are many long sandy beaches. Unfortunately for yachtsmen, there are only a few good anchorages on the island.
