Aligaria bay is located a mile south-east of Mersini harbor, but since you have to go around the small island of Agrilos, it will be 3.5 miles by sea.
Aligaria Bay (it does not have a name on the maps, so we will call the bay by the name of the beach) is the most protected from Meltemi anchorage on the south-west coast of Schinous Island. The anchorage is at a depth of 5-15. The bottom is mostly a thin layer of sand on stone slabs. However, you can find patches with a thick layer of sand where the anchor holds well. The best shelter from Meltemi is on the west side of the bay, but there are many small mooring buoys for local boats. At the west end of the bay there is an opportunity to take long mooring lines from the stern of the boat to shore.
When approaching the bay from the west, do not try to pass between Schinousa and Agrilos islands because the channel is too shallow for yachts.
In the eastern part of the bay two hundred meters from the shore there is a tavern. It takes about 40 minutes to walk from the bay to Chora.
