Korcula Island is one of the big islands of southern Croatia. Everyone who rents yachts in Dubrovnik is sure to visit it. Of course, the canonical place on the island is Korcula town, which is located on the eastern tip of the island. Korcula is the birthplace of Marco Polo. The second place on the island no less frequently visited by yachtsmen is Vela Luka, located in a deep bay in the west of the island. Both Korcula and Velo Luka have yacht marinas. Many charter companies that rent yachts in Croatia have representatives in these marinas. Korcula is often included in their itinerary yachtsmen who rent yachts in Dubrovnik, Split, Kastela.
Korcula is one of the world's oldest centers of winemaking. The island grows grapes, olives and fruits. It has everything for the production of good wine - fertile soil, warm climate, sun and rain. It is here that the famous Croatian wines "Grk" and "Posip" are produced.
You can get to the island by ferries. Ferries connect Domince (7 km from Korcula) with Orebic on the Peljesac peninsula, also ferries connect Korcula with Split, Dubrovnik, the islands Hvar and Mljet and Bari in Italy; Vela Luka with Split and the islands Lastovo and Hvar.
The island itself you can drive on the road, which begins from the town of Lumbarda on the eastern tip of the island, and ends in the town of Vela Luka on the west.
