The village and harbor of Povlja are located on the north-east coast of the island of Brac, in a wide branched bay, 3.5 miles west-north-west of the eastern tip of the island.
The bay was a very popular anchorage as far back as Roman times, according to the numerous amphorae found at the seabed of the bay.
There is a pier for yachts in the harbor, it is well sheltered from winds of all directions, except north-westerly. Depths in the harbor range from 8.0 - 10 m in the middle, to 2.5 - 3.0 m along the waterfront. In the inner harbor (behind the fish pier) from 2.5 m to a meter or less.
There are two mooring options for yachts in Povlja - the waterfront on the north side of the fish pier. The waterfront stretches for 300 meters north of it. As a rule, yachts are moored alongside in the first 50 meters, then you have to be careful, the depth is only 2,5 - 3,0 meters, but you can be moored stern to the waterfront with own anchor.
Two or three yachts can be moored to the pier, if it is free of fisher boats.
For shelter from northerly winds, you can cross to Uvala Luka, the westernmost bay of the bay, two miles west of Povlja.
There is no fueling station. Water and electricity on the eastern waterfront (columns are rare). Two restaurants and two cafes on the shore. Wi-Fi in the cafe on the waterfront. Twice a day there is a ferry from Sumartin to Makarska. The village is surrounded by numerous bays with beautiful beaches.
