Milna is located in the western part of Brac Island. Milna is one of the most harmoniously built urban Baroque towns, spread out on the Dolmaci coast and has the best naturally arranged harbors. In these harbors the fleet of Emperor Diocletian moored at the time of the construction of the palace in Split.
Milna was founded in the 16th century. The town was built around the castle of the Kerinic family; nearby was built the Church of St. Mary.
Milne was dominated by the two-story buildings of shipowners and captains of the 18th and 19th centuries. Their sailing ships were known to all seafarers of the Mediterranean and far beyond.
In the middle of the 19th century, 16 ships were built in the shipyards. The typical Dalmatian ship Bratzer, which got its name from the Italian island of Bratsa, was built based on sailing ship of Milne type.
Osibova Bay is crowned by the old Gothic church of St. Joseph. The bay splits into two arms: Pebble and Panther. Today in this place there is a marina, a hotel with modern rooms, in which sailors from around the world often stay.
Crystal clear water, healthy local food, ideal conditions for diving, sailing and fishing are the main sources of income of this beautiful Mediterranean city.
During the summer months, Milne organizes several traditional events where guests can experience the local atmosphere, cuisine and music. These include the Night of the Fishermen, the Feast of Our Lady of Carmel, and the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary on August 15.
