The Seychelles Morne National Park was formed on Mahe in 1979. It is the largest National Park in the Seychelles. The park is located in the north-western part of the island. It is named as highest mountain on Mahe located in the center of the park. From the top of Mount Seychelles Morn (905 meters) you can see a breathtaking panorama of the island.
Seychelles Morne National Park occupies about 20% of the island of Mahe. The park has 12 hiking trails of varying difficult allowing tourists to visit the most interesting places.
You can buy a map of the trail in any of the tourist offices on the island for 15 rupees.
The route "Glacis Trois Freres" leads to the gentle slope of the Three Brothers Mountain where you can see the panorama of the eastern coast of the island and the capital city of Victoria.
Along the route tourists will see exotic plants including the carnivorous water lily.
The Anse Major route leads to the secluded Anse Major beach surrounded by granite cliffs.
The Dans Gallas Trail offers panoramic views of Beau Vallon Bay, Silhouette Island, North Island and the city of Victoria.
The Mission Lodge trail walk introduces travelers to the history of the first mission school, built in 1876 to educate the children of freed slaves.
Other routes of interest include the Morne Blanc hilltop and Mount Copolia, the Mare Aux Cochons valley trail, where hikers can admire rivers, waterfalls, caves, rainforests, freshwater marshes, and the ruins of an old cinnamon oil factory.
