La Digue is one of the islands of the Seychelles archipelago. It is located 3 miles east of Praslin Island. La Digue is connected by ferry to Mahe and Praslin.
The island was discovered in 1744 but did not get its name until 1768 when it was visited by the French navigator Marc Joseph Marion-Dufresne. Due to an earlier ban on the use of motor vehicles, it is believed that the most popular transportation on the island is bicycles and ox-drawn carriages. In fact, now there are taxes on the island.
La Digue is often visited by yachtsmen, including those who have rented yachts on Praslin or Mahe. Most often yachts enter to the port of the island. Also there are several anchorages on the south-east side of the island.
The main attractions of the island are its beautiful beaches and unusual cliffs, as well as the Colonial Park of Union Estate.
