Silhouette Island

Silhouette Island is the third largest and most westerly of the granite inner islands of the Seychelles. It is located 10 miles north-west of Mahe. The main population center La Paz is located on the west of the island. There are about 200 permanent residents on the island. The island is mountainous, with five peaks over 500 meters high.

In 1987 the surrounding waters were declared a Marine National Park. In 2010, Silhouette National Park was established. It encompasses 93 percent of the land.

The island's coastline is smooth. There are almost no coves or suitable places for anchorage yachts. The only anchorage is in the north of the island in Mondon Bay.
