Marina Yachting is located on the south of the east coast of Sicily in the city of Syracuse on the west side of the island of Ortigia.
The marina has 150 mooring berths for yachts on floating pontoons. The maximum allowed length of yachts is 35 meters. The depths in the marina are from 6 to 15 meters. The inner water area of the marina shelters yachts from winds and waves of all directions. The outer side of the south-west pontoon is exposed to waves in strong southerly winds.
The second mooring option is at the town public quay to the south of the marina. There are a number of mooring buoys, but they are designed for yachts over 20 meters in length and cost 300 euros per day. Smaller yachts moor stern to the quay at their own anchor. It is recommended to give at least 40 meters of anchor chain. In this option the mooring is free of charge for 5 days. Water and electricity are charged. The anchorage is good in all winds except southerly. Before mooring you must contact the Harbor Master on VHF on channel 16 and get permission to moor and a berth number. After mooring you will have to go fill out paperwork at the Coast Guard. There are new stainless steel rings by the water and old bollards on the quay. The numbers are painted near the water.
The third option is anchorage west of the marina at depths of 5-10 meters. The seabed is sand and mud. Holding is good. Before anchoring you need to get permission from the Harbor Master on VHF channels 16 or 11. In southerly winds it is calmer to anchor here than at the town quay.
