Isola di Capo Passero are located on the southern east coast of Sicily, 4 miles north-east of the southern tip of the island.
Yachts can be anchored as indicated on Navionics maps at depths of 5-15 meters. The seabed is mostly sandy. There are some stones. Holding is good. Sicily Island shelters yachts from westerly winds. Capo Passero island gives some shelter from southerly winds and waves. The anchorage is most often used by yachts sailing from Sicily to Malta or back.
There are reports that in the strait between Sicily and Capo Passero there are shoals with depths less than 2 meters. They are not marked on the Navionics charts. Perhaps they are "wandering" shoals. Be careful.
There are also reports from 2022-2023 about thefts of dinghies and outboard from anchored yachts or dinghies left on the coast of Sicily.
