Saronkos Gulf is the busiest water area in Greece. In the head of the Gulf is the largest Greek port of Piraeus. On the west coast of Saronkos Gulf is Athens, the capital of Greece. This is the reason why there are many marinas, most of which focus on servicing of owners yachts and yachts for charter with crew. Only two marinas on the west coast of Saronix Bay are base bareboat charters, the Alimos Marina in Athens and the Olympic Marina in Lavrio.
The coastline of Sarinix Bay is quite rugged with many bays that offer convenient anchorages for yachts. On the shores of the gulf there are a number of fishponds available for the berthing of yachts.
The winds in the bay are much milder than average in Aegean Sea , that makes it possible sailing in Saronkos Gulf even when Meltemi is blowing.
There is very heavy ship traffic in the gulf, so skippers of yachts need to be very careful, especially when crossing the shipping lane with split ship traffic.
