Lyman Gerakas is located on the eastern coast of the Peloponnese Peninsula, seven miles north-north-east of Monemvasia.
The most suitable mooring place for yachts in Gerakas is on the southwest side of the small pier. Yachts are moored stern or bow to the pier at their own anchor or lag, if there is enough space. Depths at the pier are 4-5 meters.
The second option for mooring the yacht is the village waterfront to the west of the pier. Depths on the waterfront decrease as one moves deeper into the bay from 3.5 to 1.5 meters. There are reports that the anchor holds worse when mooring at the waterfront than when mooring at the pier. Be careful when approaching the waterfront with your stern, as there are stones on which you can damage the rudder blade.
In addition, yachts can anchor in opposite pier and waterfront at depths of 3-7 meters. Liman Gerakas with its deep fjord is an excellent shelter for yachts in winds of all directions, except for strong north-easterly winds, which can bring unpleasant waves into the bay. Strong and unexpected gusts of wind are possible, especially in the afternoon.
There are several taverns on the shore.
