Martinique Island

Martinique is an island in the central part of the Lesser Antilles archipelago, located in the Caribbean Sea of the Atlantic Ocean. Administratively, it is a region and at the same time an overseas department of France. The capital of the island is Fort de France. Area - 1128 sq. km. Its population is predominantly black and mulatto.

Martinique is an island of volcanic origin. Martinique's coasts are heavily indented. The entrance to most bays is blocked by reefs. The most convenient moorings for yachts are located in the southern half of the island. The main yacht marinas and anchorages are also located here.

The largest marina in the region is Le Marin. A few charter companies are based there. They offers bareboat yachts for charter. Many crewed yachts available for charter are based in Le Marin.
