Yacht moorings at Cape Laem Nang

A few safe anchorages for yachts during the north-east monsoon season are located off Laem Nang Cape.

1 - Phra Nang North anchorage. You can drop the anchor at a depth of 4-5 metres on the sandy seabed in the centre of the bay. On the edges of the bay to the north and south are impressive high cliffs. On the beach in the shade of coconut palms are cheap restaurants. Near the beach is a reef where snorkelling is good. Here you can rent a local boat for a trip to Krabi town. There is no road access to the bay, so the place is quite quiet.

2 - Phra Nang South Anchorage. The anchorage is just east of the high cliff of Koh Nang. It is possible to anchored 3-4 yachts at a depth of 5-6 metres on a sandy seabed. The shallow channel between the rocks of Koh Nang is not accessible to most yachts and even local boats can only pass there in high water. Between and around the cliffs is a colourful coral reef, perfect for snorkelling.

A bar and small restaurant occupy a cove at the left end of the beach. There is no road access. The many rocky ledges and outcrops are quite interesting to see and to take photos.
