- overnight
- own anchor
Nang Bay is located in the central part of the coast of Krabi opposite the middle of the island of Yao Yai. The bay is quite large - from the western to the eastern cape of the bay about four nautical miles. There are two main anchorages for yachts in the bay - in the center of the bay near the small islets Sam and closer to the eastern cape.
1 - yacht anchorage near the islets of Sam (Ko Sam). Anchor in the sand south of the islands at a depth of about 4 meters. The water is very clear, so the shallows can be easily detected. This is a great overnight anchorage for yachts during the northeast monsoon season. From here you can go upriver by dinghy, keeping to the west coast. Speedboats and other small boats can also pass through here. At the estuary of the river are two small jetties used by small local boats. On the west shore is a small bungalow and on the east shore is the road that leads to the highway to Krabi City.
2 - yacht anchorage at the eastern end of Nang Bay. The wide and shallow bay provides a safe shelter during the northeast monsoon season. Anchor at a depth about 5 meters. Good beach. For those who want to spend the night ashore it is not difficult to book a hotel on the shore. The way by car to the island of Phuket takes about 2 hours. You can rent a long tail to go to Krabi town instead going by road.
