Maddalena Archipelago

The Maddalena Archipelago takes its name from the main island of La Maddalena and it is a group of seven islands located on the south side of the Strait of Bonifacio between Corsica and Sardinia. The Maddalena archipelago has the status of a national park protecting the islands from unwanted influences. The beautiful sandy coves and cobalt blue waters surrounding the islands make them one of the most idyllic places for a yacht trip in the Mediterranean.

Maddalena Island has a small marina, Marina Cala Gavetta, but the main pleasure of visiting the islands is the remarkable and largely unspoiled anchorage.

All yachts visiting the Maddalena Archipelago must obtain a permit from the National Park Authority. Permits can be purchased for: 1 day, 7 days, 15 days, 30 days and 120 days. Permits can be purchased from the park authorities, in some ports and from official agents. Alternatively, permits can be purchased online with a 5% discount on the official Park website.

If you come without a permit, staff of the park (very conscientious) will charge the usual fee and an additional 40% fee, so it is advisable to make this purchase in advance.

Some areas of the Park are closed areas, including the famous "Spiaggia Horns" on the island of Budeli. Maps of the areas and other brochures you can download from the links at the bottom of the Le brochure page on the park's website.
