In the heart of the island of Corfu, 12 km from the capital of the same name, there is a small village of Vatos. It is located on the slope of Mount St. George. A huge green valley known as the "valley of Ropa" surrounds the village and was once a lake, which has dried up over time. This valley occupies the impressive central part of Corfu island.
