Kavia Bay (Ormos Kavia) is located on the west coast of Kea Island, 3.5 miles from its southern tip and 6.5 miles from the main port Korissia.
After Korissia and Vourkari, Koundouros or Kavia Bay or Ayios Emilianos is the most popular yachting site on the island. It is well sheltered from Meltemi, but not from southerly winds. The nearby Pissa Bay may offer some shelter from southerly winds, otherwise, sail to Vourkari.
Anchor drop at a depth of 3-7 meters. The bottom is sandy. Holding is goog. During Meltemi, it is good to take lines ashore in the north-east corner of the bay next to a small church. On weekends in summer, the bay is full of local yachts from Athens and it can be difficult to find a point for anchorage.
There are several restaurants on the shore. There are no other services. The town of Kea is about 45 minutes away by taxes.
