The bay is sheltered from winds from most directions, but is open to westerly winds, in which a nuisance wave enters to the bay. Yachts may also moored alongside the outer side of the long breakwater, where it is 10-15 metres deep, but this should not be done in westerly winds.

During the high season, there is often not enough mooring space for yachts arriving at the end of the day. In this case, it is advisable to sail to the anchorage at Sesula Bay. The pier on the north side of the harbour is used by ferries and excursion yachts.

There are a few hazards on the approach to Maslinica, but they should not be a problem if the skipper of the yacht keeps his attention to the map. When approaching from the south, Kamicic Rock is half a mile south of Balkun Island. When approaching from the north, please note that the channel between Soskinja and Solta Islands is at least 2.8 metres deep and can be navigated only by a boat with a shallow draft and in good weather.

It is possible to register entry to Croatia at the port (customs and immigration) during the summer season. The nearest year-round port of entry is Split.

There is a supermarket and other grocery shops. There are several restaurants, cafes and bars. WiFi is available in some of them. Rubbish tanks are close by on the waterfront.

Maslinica is connected by ferry to Split.

Maslinica is a charming village and popular with tourists, including yachtsmen. Next to the waterfront is the luxurious Martinis Marci hotel, which was a fortified palace in the 17th century.
