The island of Brac is 10 miles south-east of the city of Split, to east of the island of Solta, from which it is separated by a channel half a mile wide, and to the north of Hvar Island. Third largest of the Croatian islands after Cres and Krk, with an area of just under 400 square kilometers, Brac is a very popular resort island. The stunning Zlatni Rat beach near Bol Town is known worldwide as one of the most popular beaches in Croatia.
Vidovo Góra, the highest point on the island, at 778 meters and the highest peak on all the Croatian islands. Historically, the main fame of the island has became from the extraction of white stone, the quality and variety of which is so great that it was used in the construction and decoration of Diocletian's Palace in Split and White House in Washington.
Brac is well provided with developed quays for yachts, ten ports, two marinas and numerous anchorages around rugged coastline of the island. Through Brac pass yachting itineraries starting in Kastela, Split and Trogir. Almost all yachtsmen who travel on charter yachts rented in one of these places have visited Milna, the main town of the island.
Brac has a summer airport, receiving on average about 40,000 passengers per season. There is a ferry service to Split.
