Katakolon harbor and yacht marina are located on the west coast of the Peloponnese Peninsula, 16 miles east-south-east of the eastern tip of Zakynthos Island.
Earlier, the Katakolon yacht marina provided berthing for 140 yachts with a maximum length up to 25 meters. Depths at the north-west waterfront, north and north-east breakwater range from 1.5 to 4.0 meters. Today the pontoons are on the shore and the number of available mooring places for yachts is much smaller. The most important advantage of this marina is its geographical location. It is located in Katakolon not far from Ancient Olympia, one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece.
Shelter is good from the prevailing winds, but with strong southerly winds the harbor becomes dangerous. According to some reports, water and electricity can be obtained at the harbor.
As an alternative, anchorage is possible to the north of the harbor at depths of 2 - 4 meters. The bottom is sand and mud. Holding is good.
The harbor is very active with many cruise ships coming here to take tourists to Ancient Olympia.
