Messolongi harbor is located on the north shore of Patraikos Bay in the town of Messolongion.
Yachts can be moored to the waterfront in the north-east corner of the port of stern at their anchor or alongside. Depths at the waterfront are 3-4 meters. Larger vessels are moored to the long northern waterfront, where the depths are more.
It is also possible to be anchored in the water area of the port. The depths are 5-10 meters. The bottom is muddy. Anchor does not always hold well.
However, there are cases when the port police have approached yachts anchored here and said that anchoring is prohibited.
The port is well sheltered from winds and waves from all directions. The approach to the port is via a 2.3 mile long, 50 meter wide and 8 meter deep canal. The channel is marked with navigation signs.
The city gives the impression of being neglected, with many empty houses and graffiti on the walls. However, it is interesting to see its attractions. There are several taverns and bars on the waterfront. It's a 10-minute walk to town.
On the waterfront, where the yachts are mooring, children are constantly swimming, begging for money, climbing on yachts and stealing all sorts of little things. There are a lot of stray dogs in the city. There are reports of bites. A local hotel is used as a place to stay for refugees. This is information from 2020. In 2021 there are reports that everything is much calmer.
