The bay is almost completely enclosed and provides good shelter from winds of all directions in a very comfortable environment. Nevertheless, a strong northwest wind can bring a nasty short wave into the cove. Wind gusts will be felt at the anchorage.
Yachts are anchored throughout the bay, so as not to interfere with the maneuvering of the ferry. Depths are 5-7 meters. Bottom is sand and some algae. Anchor holds well. You can take mooring lines to the north shore of the bay. Beware of wasps.
Panormitis is the second ferry port in Symi. The monastery is very famous and attracts many tourists. There is a tavern, a small market and a good bakery on the shore. The tavern offers simple and delicious food.
