Kos Island

Kos is an island in the Aegean Sea, belonging to Greece. It is part of the Dodecanese island group (South Sporades in the south-eastern Aegean Sea). Kos is located only 2.5 miles off Turkey's coast and 10 miles from Bodrum.

The coastline of the island is smooth, there are no bays, so the mooring of yachts is possible only in a small number of fishports. In the north of the island there is a modern yacht marina, the service of which will satisfy the most demanding yachtsmen.

The name Kos probably comes from the crab, which in ancient times was depicted on coins as an emblem. Kos is the island of Hippocrates, the third largest island of the Dodecanese after Rhodes and Karpathos, with a picturesque port, beautiful sandy beaches, clear sea and remarkable archaeological sites. Kos reached a particular heyday in the 4th and 3rd centuries BC, thanks to the school of medicine founded here by Hippocrates.

Kos is a possible place to start and finish your voyage around the islands of the Dodecanese on charter yachts.
