Lira islet is located on the south of Liepsoi Island, at the entrance of the bay between Stifi and Kirakia capes.
This bay is also known as Lira Bay, named after a small island called Lyra or Lera. The anchorages in Lyra Bay are an excellent shelter for yachts from Meltemi.
The waters here are clear emerald green over the sandy bottom. A few swimmers come in during the day, and there are one or two camper tents. These are the favorite anchorages of many yachts. Anchor in depths of 4 to 15 meters on the sandy bottom all around the bay. The anchor holds well despite very strong gusts during the Meltemi.
It takes 40 minutes to walk to the town. The easternmost little cove looks very attractive and some yachts are anchored there, but the bottom is very hard sand, in some places covered with seaweed and the anchor holding may be poor.
