Nisiros is a small island of volcanic origin, part of the Dodecanese archipelago in the Aegean Sea in Greece. Nisiros is located about midway between Kos and Tilos. Nisyros is roughly circular in shape, with a diameter of about 5 miles. The landscape of the island is mountainous. The shoreline is fairly smooth. There are almost no natural shelters for yachts.
Nisyros is home to the volcano of the same name, Nisyros, one of the active volcanoes in Europe. Fifteen years ago, the volcano was actively breathing. The last eruption occurred about 700 years ago. The volcano has five craters. The largest and most famous crater is Stefanos.
Yachts usually visit two sites on Nisyros - Mandraki and Palon.
