Zadar - Rijeka. The mainland coast.

The mainland coast of Zadar - Rijeka stretches from south-south-east to north-north-west for about 100 nautical miles. There are several small resort towns on the coast (Crkvena, Karlobag, Bakar, Kraljevica, Starigrad). There are no big ports and towns between Zadar and Rijeka.

Yacht infrastructure on this part of the coast is not as well developed as on the coast to the south of Zadar. There is a yacht marina in Novi Vinodolski. Yachts can be moored at the pier or waterfront in several resort towns. There are small open bays along the entire coast, many of which yachts can be anchored in calm weather. The only large enclosed bay, Bakarski Bay, is located opposite the northern tip of the island of Krk. A chain of large islands - Krk, Rab, Pag - stretches along the coast at a distance of several miles.

Sailing along the coast of Zadar - Rijeka is not as popular as in the more southern part of Croatia. This is due to two reasons. Firstly, this area is more exposed to the bora, and secondly, the resort towns of the coast are not as rich in attractions as the more southern ones. At the same time, the coasts with their steep high mountains are very beautiful.
